NCTA East Asia seminars available in three Massachusetts locations

The Five College Center for East Asian Studies will offer three NCTA East Asia seminars in Massachusetts starting in January, 2010. Seminar locations are Fall River, Lenox and Arlington, MA. All teachers and librarians who teach about East Asia are encouraged to apply. Benefits include $500 in personal stipend over two years, $500 in teaching material, and, pending funding, study tour opportunities. Please see www.smith.edu/fcceas for more information.

Supreme Court Summer Institute Announced

Street Law, Inc. and the Supreme Court Historical Society will sponsor the annual Supreme Court Summer Institute, June 17-22, 2010. The institute is open to secondary level social studies teachers & supervisors, who will spend five stimulating days on Capitol Hill and inside the Supreme Court learning about the Court, its past and current cases, and how to teach about them from top Supreme Court litigators & educators. We will also be in the Court to hear the Justices announce the final decisions of the term and attend a private reception at the Court.  read more »

Preserving Our Democracy Teaching American History Grant Offers Saturday Seminars

The Preserving Our Democracy Teaching American History grant, based in Worcester, is offering a series of four Saturday seminars during the 2009-2010 school year. Participants can choose to attend one session or all four, and can earn PDPs or graduate credits from Worcester State College depending on how many sessions they choose to attend. These programs in particular will align with US II history frameworks, but any interested teacher is welcome and encouraged to attend.  read more »
